Autism Awareness Day: April 2, 2016

By April 2, 2016Uncategorized

Autism Awareness Day is April 2. At SMYS, we are keenly aware of Autism Spectrum Disorders in our world. Our children, family members, patients, friends have all been affected by this issue. In fact, Janie, our founder, and Jennifer, one of our amazing admins have children on the spectrum. With 1 in 45 children now being diagnosed with ASD, it is a health crisis that needs so much more attention and research than it currently receives.autism

Another issue facing our loved ones and patients on the Spectrum is that many are approaching adulthood, and are trying to navigate this new world where a 9-5 cubicle  job is not a viable option for them. Our focus this Autism Awareness Day is on Hannah, an artist who has autism, who is one of the many autistic teens who now need to create a world for themselves as adults. Embracing their talents and helping them transition to adulthood is the focus of this video. Please watch and share in support of Autism Awareness Day.
