SMYS is adopting families again for the Holidays. Families are nominated and are members of SMYS who need assistance giving their kids Christmas this year. Take a look at their stories and help us make their holidays a little brighter. Many of these families had us in tears reading about their situation- families whose kids did not have ANY Christmas last year, Nurses who were hospitalized and lost their jobs, homes…everything. These are families just like us, working hard to provide for their families.

THIS is what Show Me Your Stethoscope does.

Family # 5 Wishlist

Good morning and Happy Friday!! Here is family #5 for #SMYSHoliday! Andrea Pelligrino is a single mom of 3 and recently graduated from an accelerated nursing program that prevented her from working during school. She recently took her boards and did not pass and is preparing to take them again. Without us her kids won’t have a Christmas this year. So let’s give her kids a great Christmas and wish her luck on retaking boards!!!

Nurse Childrens Foundation PJ Drive: Link

This year, SMYS has teamed up with the Nurse’s Children’s Foundation based out of California. This is an amazing group. It was founded by a woman named Leslie Silket. This group helps take care of children that have lost parents, one of which was a healthcare worker. Every year, they collect clothes and toys for children that would not otherwise have a Christmas. They even dress up as Santa and Mrs. Claus and deliver presents to the children in the shelters on Christmas morning (which will be live streamed this year from their page!). We are doing a pajama drive for them through Target. Here is the link. If you click on it, it will take you to the target homepage. Click on lists and registries and search for either Leslie Silket or first name SMYS last name Holiday. The pajamas are also an additional 20% off today if you enter code SLEEP20 at checkout. We tried to pick sets of 2 which means 2 kids will be helped out with your one donation. If you would like more information about this group, I will be posting the link to their page in the comments. Show these kids some love!!

Search Registry/Lists for Leslie Silket or (First name) SMYS,   Last Name (Holiday)

Code for extra 20% off Pajamas (ends 12/3) is SLEEP20, also if you have a Red Card, you get an additional 5% off your order. If you are interested in signing up for a Red Card click Here

Family #4 Completed!!! Yay!

Here is family #4 for #SMYSHoliday. Alison McDonald Is described by her coworkers as an amazing CNA that works in Missouri. SHe is the mother of 3 young children ages 5 years, 19 months, and 2 months. However, she makes next to nothing and had to go back to work only 3 weeks after giving birth to her youngest child. Money is so tight the kids are not going to have Christmas without your help. And they are just adorable!!!! Want to see…. I may have put a picture in the comments!!

Family #3 Angela Smith  Completed!

Family number 3 is a young 11 year old girl. Dad was abusive and Mom left. Dad ended up with a DUI and recently got out of jail. Because of his behavior, Mom ended up needing extensive legal help which depleted her savings and is still ongoing. Combine that with therapy for her daughter and money is just not there. She is doing everything she can to make ends meet and keep the lights on. Her daughter will not have Christmas without your help. So please, let’s show this beautiful and brilliant little girl that we love her!

Family #2: Completed!!!!

I want to tell you the story of 7 year old Blair. Blair was diagnosed with B-ALL in March. She has already undergone multiple bone marrow biopsies, spinal taps, and chemo. After 4 weeks of treatment, she was not in remission. She is now having to do more intense chemo and will be for a while. Mom had to quit her job as a nurse to take Blair to doctors appointments and hospital stays. Blair also has a 6 year old sister named Norah. We included some gift cards for the family to use during their travels to hospitals.

Family #1: Completed!

Our first family has asked to remain anonymous so we are going to call her Florence Nightingale (mainly because I was joking with her and she didn’t think I would actually name her that) She is a RN case manager who took a different job that would allow her to spend more time with her 6 year old daughter (absolute cutie!!). Unfortunately, after the costs of advancing her degree and a divorce, she ended up in debt. She had to sell her house and move in with her mother and take a second job to make ends meet. It is a situation that could happen to any one of us. Let’s give little miss a great Christmas this year!!
